2025 DHIS2 App Competition Finalists and Voting

DHIS2 App developers have worked so hard to create amazing DHIS2 apps to submit them for the DHIS2 Annual Conference 2025 App Competition. The DHIS2 core team has selected three finalists, and now it’s time for the community to vote for the winner.

We had some great submissions this year, and we want to thank everyone who participated and submitted their applications. This community of developers is inspiring, and the quality of apps in this competition never ceases to impress us.

We would like to extend a special congratulations to the three finalists who have been selected this year!

In random order, here are the finalists:

FlexiPortal

FlexiPortal is a customizable, deployment-ready public-facing portal that enables easy, unauthenticated access to data stored in a DHIS2 instance. It simplifies sharing data with the public by allowing DHIS2 visualizations and resources to be published with minimal effort, promoting data use.

AI Insights

AI Insights enables users to ask natural language questions about their data and receive AI-generated summaries, visualizations, and anomaly detection. It enhances decision-making, particularly in resource-limited and fast-changing environments.

ArcGIS Connector

The app allows DHIS2 users to leverage the ArcGIS system using a live connection to their data. This allows for users to gain data driven insights through advanced analytics, low/no code visualizations and storytelling, data sharing, and more in the ArcGIS environment.

The ArcGIS Connector allows you to use your DHIS2 data in the ArcGIS System by creating a live-feed in a no-code interface. We’ll be at the conference throughout the week, feel free to come up and chat if you have any questions! See the highlight video plus a full detailed demo of the app here. AI Insights is in my opinion should be the winner. It a new way of interacting with your data.

Had a call last week with @antony.sibanda on integration NLP into DHIS2 to facilitate data Analysis.

“AI insight” just solved half of the problem, then a lot also ask how to access DHIS2 dashboards publicly without having to login, this is also where the “Flexi portal” comes in.

All developers did a great job, one way or the other we’ll continue using the apps even those that didn’t make it to the final 3. Your apps are useful to the community.

I will test AI insight and Flexi portal, whichever gives me less trouble using has my vote and campaigning.

Hi Everyone! AI Insights allows users to analyze DHIS2 health data using natural language queries. Healthcare professionals, data analysts, and decision-makers can ask questions in plain language to identify trends, compare performance across organization units, and generate actionable insights from their data. The app works by connecting to external AI services (OpenAI or locally-hosted Ollama) to interpret questions and analyze aggregate, event, and tracker data. AI Insights is generic and works with any DHIS2 instance and metadata structure. The app requires an internet connection to communicate with AI services and may need API keys for OpenAI or local Ollama setup. All analysis happens through conversational interfaces that produce visualizations and downloadable reports.

Imagine receiving a last-minute request to develop and deliver three health portals for three different countries, each aiming to share their public data – and all are needed by the end of the day. In most organizations, this would be a heavy task, especially when your developers and implementers are already fully occupied.

But with FlexiPortal, you can take on this challenge – even solo. In just a few hours, you can deploy fully functional, high-quality portals that meet and exceed client expectations.

That’s the true power and efficiency of FlexiPortal.

Thank you @jmesplana, great app.

Can I be able to check district or health facility perfomance by program or dataset? I love the custom report feature :+1:

FlexiPortal is a game changer! Finally, we can see important health information without needing a computer science degree. This is what happens when technology actually serves the people. Brilliant! :100: :100:

I am still in the exploration stage, I hope there are help documents or user guides available to support the learning process.

Yes, I can confidently assure you that the learning process will be smooth. The Flexiportal is designed to be intuitive and easy to explore, requiring just a basic understanding to get started. Additionally, we have well-structured documentation that guides you through every step – from initial setup to full deployment.

I think this App is friendly to use and allows to search data from many places and combine them to analize data. The Story Map could be an efficient tool for emergencies.

All in for Flexiportal - the other two are amazing but i think the public will love flexi more – the other two are mainly for experts.. If you can make data available to the public and make it seamless/precise - That’s a no-brainer

Kudos to the team!
