Hi All,

I have just used the dhis2-2.1 live and it install on my machine without any error message. I now have my database in but my problem now is when I click on services and click on data entry my org unit and datasets are all available but when I click on a dataset and choose a period it just keep reading and not opening to the form. Also at the bottom of the screen it says Error on page.

Secondly I have two databases and I want to switch between them how do I go about doing that.

Thanks

Stephen

hello Stephen,

You can do this through changing the database name in the connection URL on the hibernet, properties file.

find hibernate.connection.url = jdbc:postgresql:dhis2

note: change dhis2 to the name of the database you want to use,

cheers

Hi All,

Thanks very much for the prompt feedback. I did see the
hibernate.properties you can switch databases. But during the installation I
installed only one of those databases and I need to have the other in the
system so I can be able to switch from the hibernate.properties. Can I get
help how to put in the other database?

Thanks

Stephen

helllo again,

it depend if you already have a backup of the other database that you want to work with or you want a complete new one, let me write both

  1. using the backup if you have one from somewhere.

all you have to do is open pgadmin3, on databases right click on it and create new database, you can give this database any name that you line but preferably it should have the prefix of dhis,

after that just right click on the dhis database that you’ve created and restore the backup. (it will open a popup and you should browse to folder where the backup is locate and restore it).

if you want a new database just follow the steps above until the point you create the database. and restart your computer (but remember to edit the url string in the database to point to this new database)

NB. if you want to reuse the dataelement and orgunits for the first database, you can go to import/ export and choose metadata export and choose the specific meta data you want to re-use in the other database and export them, then you can use this file to import in the new database

hope thats help.

cheers

Hi,

I’m a Medical Doctor from Sri Lanka and new to DHIS2. I have to design and Develop a MCH information management system for the Family Health Bureau (http://www.familyhealth.gov.lk/home.php) as the fimal project of my MSc in Medical Informatics.

I just upgraded to DHIS2 2.1. As I can figure out Reporting module has revolutionized.

  1. I want to have user manual for the reporting module

  2. Need advice on designing the JRXML template. Report I’m expecting to generate contains 8 A4 pages. Shall I design the ONE jrxml template (containing all 8 pages) or shall I design EIGHT jrxml files for each page of the Report ? What is the Best practice and What makes the Life easy ?

Thanks,

Subodha.

Hi Subodha,

yes the reporting module has undergone lots of changes and the documentation is lagging slightly behind but we will improve on that soon.

For the reports I recommend that you first create a report table with the required data. After generating it (click the green “Generate” icon in the list) you can get the JRXML source by clicking the “Download as JRXML” button. This file you can import into iReport and all the parameters etc will be there. Then modify it as you wish, add charts etc., then navigate to Standard Report in DHIS and create a new one, including uploading the modified report design.

It depends a bit on the report but it makes sense to create one report per table in your original report document.

This list will be notified when more comprehensive documentation is available.

regards Lars

Hi Lars,

In version 2.1, creating standard report has to selected only 1 report table. I’m wondering how it will manage if I want to generate a report with dataelements in different kind of perios like yearly and monthly together. At this point 2.0.6 we can select 2 report tables. But what about 2.1? do we have to create a report table with all the dataelements need in that report without care about aggregation period?

You mentioned about import jrxml file into the existing ireport file. But I couldn’t find how to import it in ireport.

Hi Thuy,

just select all those periods from the report table. You can select those as fixed periods but preferably as “relative periods”, eg. “reporting month”, “months this year”, “this year”. This will be aggregated as usual, give it a try…

You mentioned about import jrxml file into the existing ireport file. But I couldn’t find how to import it in ireport.

After you have added your report table you must first generate it (by clicking “create” green icon in the list). Then you can download it as pdf, xls etc and also as “JRXML” from the top menu.

Lars

···

Thuy

Thuy,

In iReport you simply open the .jrsml file and will see the report there and ready for editing.

As far as I know yuu cannot merge a new jrxml file into an existing one. The .jrxml file you download is a complete report with design and data connection set up.

You cannot preview inside iReport (since we cannot get the xml data over the network), instead you use DHIS 2 standard report to preview the design.

When it comes to reports and multiple periods you can choose to cross tab the period dimension (top of the page selection), and then select multiple relative periods, e.g. Reporting month and Quarters this year. Then you will get 4 columns for your periods (one for the reporting month and the four quarters). If you then list data element on rows (not cross tabbed) you will get the data elements listed and their monthly and quarterly values next to it. As Lars says, just give it a try and you will understand more.

This part is also covered in detail in the user manual.
