Tables on event capture

Hello,

I have been trying to create tables using Category Combinations on data elements and so far they have worked fine for data sets. Nevertheless, when I used the same setup for event capture, the tables were not created and only the data element was shown. Is this functionality implemented? Does this need to be configured differently to show tables?

Thanks!

Dear Eric,

Tracker both with and without registration data elements dont support category combinations. Its bad that its misleading in the design because when you select the domain type as tracker it still allow yo to select the category combination.

In the events you will have to create each category as a single different data element

Like these if you have a survey that collects such data

Malaria - male under 5

Malaria - male over 5

I think the developers should control for this in the design that when you select a domain Tracker, some non applicable selection should be disabled.

Regards

Hi Eric and Prosper,

Prosper, agree we should not allow category combinations to be selected for data elements with domain type ‘tracker’.

As to your example I’d like to add that for events it would probably make more sense to create separate data elements for ‘age’ (numeric) and ‘gender’ (text with option set male/female), as this will give a lot more flexibility in terms of analysis and aggregation later. That’s part of the strength of the events model compared to aggregate.
