Sorry , for poor explanations

I can access my Web server from Ubuntu Server in office (www.zanhealth.info.
and other local ) but can not be accessed from out side (weather from the
office or any other internet connection.

I thought, it is a problem with firewall, but I set them in the lowest
level.

Hi Selemani

I'm struggling a bit to grasp exactly what the problem is. You'll
have to really tell me step by step. I see the web server
(www.zanhealth.info) is in Norway. Is this correct or is it
redirecting requests from Norway. It seems to be up and running
anyway. But I can't get it to return me a web page either  Is
this the problem. You can't access it from outside?

Where is the ubuntu server? If you can't access www.zanhealth.info,
can you access anything else?

So there is a server with 4 Nics (2 of them disabled). Can you send
the output of the command:

ifconfig

With 4 Nics you might want to capture the output to a file and send that:

ifconfig >ifconfig.txt

And maybe we can also look at your routing table:

route -n

Anything else about the setup you think is important. I'm worried if
lightning took out your NICS didn't it also take out other stuff?

Regards
Bob

Dear all,

Few days ago , I had a problem with my server, Network interface card
striked by a lightining. as a result system was not working in its best
efficence.

I changed, NIC . After few configurations and few challenges because, server
now
has got 4 NIC ports, Two of them, I have disabled, system was ok again.

For some reasons, I can access the web site from my server, but not from any
other computer. I think there is a problem with security or other necessary
configurations.
Is anybody have an idea what is wrong? did we do any configuration at last
time.

The problem is biting my ass. so Any help ASAP will be appriciated.

yours

Hi Suleiman,

Well, it looks like it’s a firewall issue or a routing issue. I tried to access it with the IP address 196.41.62.90, it responds to ping but port 80 and 22 are not open or not reachable.

Here are my suggestions (from within):

  1. Make sure you have no iptables rules that are set to DROP as the default policy. This typically happens when you flush your rules while you have your policy set to DROP. Then you’ve locked yourself out.

Verify with “iptables -L” to make sure that the policy isn’t DROP.

  1. SELinux (unlikely if you are using ubuntu):

if you have SELinux, use “setenforce 0” to turn off the selinux temprarly.

  1. Stop any firewall programs you may be using.

  2. Check the default gateway “route -n”

  3. The support guy suggestion: “Shut up and reboot”

I hope it helps

Hello.

This it seems to be a firewall problem and/or route problem.

I thing that the name of the NIC changed with the substitution of the NIC; And the firewall script still uses the old NIC names.

Do as Patrick suggests. If you can not follow him I give you more options:

  • Skype with me (orvaquim)
  • Find some Linux guys from LinuxforAfrica in Tanzania (If you are interested on this I can find the contact)
