May 2026 LMIS and Supply Chain Meetup Announcement: Temperature and performance Monitoring & EMS management with DHIS2

400x33

Hi everyone,

We are excited to invite you to our next LMIS and Supply Chain meetup next week on Thursday, May 21, 2026! @Breno and @George_McGuire will be taking a deep dive into Temperature and Performance Monitoring as well as EMS (Equipment Monitoring System) — one of the most requested topics from the DHIS2 community.

Ensuring vaccines and other temperature-sensitive health products remain within safe temperature ranges as well as monitoring the performance of cold chain appliances is a critical challenge across health systems. In this session, we will focus on how DHIS2 supports temperature monitoring using manual data entry as well as uploading data from data loggers and EMS compliant refrigerators and freezers into DHIS2.

We will cover:
• Twice daily temperature recording using “aggregate” Data entry forms
• Temperature recording using the DHIS2 cold chain lifecycle management tool (Tracker program)
• Uploading data logger data into DHIS2 with the VARO app through OpenFn
• Uploading EMS temperature and performance data from proprietary systems into DHIS2
• A MVP of a DHIS2-EMS app which uploads data from EMS appliances to DHIS2 from a USB-port
• A new DHIS2 plugin for automatically uploading WHO PQS catalogue attributes into DHIS2 Tracker programs
• Analytics and dashboards — how temperature and performance data collected in DHIS2 can be used to improve cold chain equipment management
