After switching to DHIS2 from Lao-EWARN for their national case-based disease surveillance platform, the health authorities in Laos improved reporting rates of notifiable diseases from 68% to more than 80%, and reduced the amount of time needed to identify, investigate, and respond to disease notifications from several weeks to a matter of days, helping them stop disease outbreaks before they spread.
