dxf

I’ve just uploaded a revised schema to the docs section of launchpad. Please take a look and comment if you have time. If you have a schema aware editor you can use it to edit dxf2 files. Notable changes:

  1. the root element dxf is now qualified in a namespace.

  2. the “associations” of the original dxf have been removed - except for orgunits. Save that for dxf2.1!

  3. the new dataelementgroup/groupset structures are represented as are the indicator group/groupsets.

  4. implemented datavalue using attributes

When I get time I’ll make a docbook rendition of the schema. Now we have to work on the parser and persistence side to make sure this all gets reflected in reality

Cheers
Bob

Thanks Bob,

Sort of related to this, do we have a blueprint for improvements to DXF, specifically adding new types of metadata to DXF and the import/export process (reality as you call it)?

There are still some important metadata that are not supported in DXF/import-export which makes updating DHIS installations harder for the implementers, like (if no changes have been made to this recently):

Data entry forms
all GIS metadata (for the new module)
Charts
Dashboards
and probably more?

There is a blueprint here https://blueprints.launchpad.net/dhis2/+spec/dxf-format.

Its a bit neglected but the current changes address many of the points addressed in the whiteboard section. I think this might be the best place currently for gathering requirements like the ones you mention. Though a wiki would work better.

too many wikis. I don’t know how you keep track of them all - makes my head spin. Lets see what we can do on dhis2.org first.

There is only one wiki. The hisp.info wiki will die (the sooner the better).
