What is the Aggregation operator of Data Element with Value Type Date

My system is DHIS2.14 and PostgresQL 9.3

I have configured a data element of Value Type Date to hold a date. However, I am not sure which Aggregation operator should be used. Sum and average do not seem to make sense on Value Type date.

My data element with value type date can store the data entered on a data entry form, BUT that value can not be displayed in a pivot table. My data element has Aggregation operator Sum (which does not make sense for a date), I also tried Average.

Hi Morina,

data of type “date” are not being aggregated at all in DHIS 2, so it will currently not be view-able in analysis at all.

I sense that you want to create some kind of report at the lowest org unit level where you want the date just to display as it was captured and not aggregated - correct? In that case we could look into just rendering dates as they are, like we do with text-type data (no aggregation).

regards,

Lars

Yes, this is exactly what I want to do. How can I add this column to a report so that my report displays the date captured. If the pivot table can not display the data element, can a report display it?

I am really stuck!

Hello,

any news on use of dates in pivot tables, for example?

How this solution (at the lowest level, to show dates as they were captured) would work ?

Thanks !

Hi @Fatemacse,

Date and Data&Time value type data elements are not aggregatable so it is not possible to display in a pivot table in the data visualizer or pivot table apps. If you are capturing this data in tracker, you can see the date and time fields in the event reports as a line list, but again it is not aggregatable there either.

If you try to do this you will see an error that looks like this:

@Breno and @GeorgeMcGuire are our LMIS experts and may be able to advise you on how you can monitor vaccine logistics without the need of time and date fields in aggregate pivot tables.

Sorry if this is an inconvenience, but again, I’m sure with Breno and Goerge’s help you can find an alternative approach that will work.

All the best,
Scott

Hi @Fatemacse
Hi @ferdinandmussavene
We have developed a prototype for DHIS2 end-user stock management with an “aggregate” Data Entry form with a “monthly” period which then does not require recording or aggregating any entered date fields. We are also working on a prototype based on the “Tracker” data model which is not easy to explain briefly.
Could you please share details of your actual use case for vaccine logistics, perhaps with some screenshots?
I am travelling all of next week but if you were available this Friday, 10.12.2021 after 15:00 Central European Time, I would really appreciate a short call to understand your use case. Else any time from 20.12.2021 onward.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
