Unable to select Current Quarterly period selection in DataEntryScreen

Hi,

Unable to select any quarterly time period in current year. This is because the first quarter of the year isn’t over yet.
However this is already mid of march and the quarterly data entry could be done at any time during the last 2 weeks of march.

Unable to select any quarterly time period in previous year as well. we should allow the user the option of going back to last year.

It would be good if we allow data entry for the running / current quarter and block it for the subsequent/coming quarters

when is the start of the your quarterly period?

The idea is not to let users enter for future periods. if the start date of your quarterly period is passed the current date and the period will apper in the dataentry.

about previous year/period …it should work. Have you checked the << and >> buttons just on top your period list?

I think what bharath means is that people want to enter data for the current period (even if the period is not complete over yet). I guess we can allow data to be captured for a period that has STARTED. But is it feasible to enter data for a period that is not over? What if you eg. enter data today for 1. quarter 2009, and then you have more occurences of a given data element, wouldn’t the value be wrong?

After a closer look it seems it IS possible to enter data for the current month. Have a look eg at the demo.

Jan2009 to Mar2009 is the Quarter.

I agree that not to let users entering data for future periods. but for this quarter its last month (i mean mid march)

Both the buttons are disabled.

I would think that it would make sense to be able to at least offer a
partial data entry for the current time period for some indicators.
You could envisage a situation where stocks of equipment are taken on
a specific date and recorded, but perhaps not at the end of the month.
Or possibly even a snapshot data entry of the current month, which
might be edited later on.

I am not sure if this extends to semi-permanent data (such as census
population projections) or indicator targets, which might be set far
in advance of the actual time period that is current.

It does not seem really like a bug though, but rather a feature
enhancement to allow "future" data entry for certain data elements.
