Software Engineer Looking to Build Technology That Improves Global Health 🌍

Hello DHIS2 Community,

I’m Morgan, a software engineer with 3+ years of professional experience, and I’m currently looking for an opportunity to contribute to the DHIS2 ecosystem as a Software Developer / Software Engineer.

I’m sharing this post because I’m not simply looking for another software engineering role. I’m looking for an opportunity to use my engineering skills to build technology that has a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

That is what draws me to DHIS2.

Why DHIS2?

I’m fascinated by the idea that software and data can directly influence how health systems operate, how resources are allocated, and how healthcare decisions are made.

DHIS2 sits at the intersection of software engineering, data, and public health—three areas that I’m deeply interested in.

The possibility of contributing to systems used by health programs around the world is incredibly motivating to me. I want to be part of a team where the applications, APIs, integrations, and platforms we build aren’t just technically interesting, but actually help people.

I want my code to matter.

What I bring

With 3+ years of software engineering experience, I have developed a strong foundation in building, maintaining, and improving software systems.

My experience includes:

  • Building web applications and backend services
  • Designing and consuming REST APIs
  • Database-driven application development
  • Writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code
  • Debugging and improving existing systems
  • Software testing and troubleshooting
  • System integration and data exchange
  • Working with Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Translating real-world requirements into practical technical solutions
  • Learning unfamiliar technologies and codebases quickly

I’m particularly interested in DHIS2 application development, APIs, data integration, Tracker, analytics, interoperability, and digital health solutions.

What I’m looking for

I’m open to opportunities such as:

  • Software Engineer
  • Software Developer
  • Full-Stack Engineer
  • DHIS2 Developer
  • Digital Health Software Engineer

I’m open to full-time opportunities, internships, and other meaningful ways of contributing to the DHIS2 ecosystem.

What I hope to contribute

I’m confident in my ability to contribute, but I’m equally aware that joining a community like DHIS2 means there is always more to learn.

I would love the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, understand the DHIS2 platform more deeply, contribute to existing projects, and build solutions that solve real problems for health organizations.

I bring curiosity, strong engineering fundamentals, a willingness to learn, and the determination to deliver.

Given the opportunity, I believe I can grow into a valuable contributor to the DHIS2 ecosystem.

More importantly, I’m motivated by the possibility that something I help build could eventually support a health worker, improve a health program, help decision-makers act on better data, or contribute to better health outcomes for communities around the world.

That is the kind of impact I want my career to have.

Let’s connect :handshake:

If you are a DHIS2 organization, implementation partner, development team, or recruiter looking for a software engineer—or if you know of an opportunity where my background could be a good fit—I would love to connect.

Hi @MorganJason420

Welcome to the DHIS2 community! It’s great to see you’re connecting via the community and hopefully this space will be an opportunity to remain close to what matters to the community.

You are more than welcome to continue to share about your initiatives here. You will also find other developers sharing their projects in the Development - Développement category.

Furthermore, you will be able to notice a pattern of priorities and issues that people face as you engage in the discussions and this will help you chip in your knowledge too!

Looking forward to hearing your next step, and that you will continue to find ways to contribute to DHIS2.
