Single click import of CSV data is it possible in DHIS2?

Hello,

I have an issue here with the import functionality in dhis2,the thing is i can import only data values exported from DHIS from one pc to another, but i need to create my custom CSV file that will contain organization units and data values…then import it to DHIS2…what am experiencing now i can only import organization units and data values exported from DHIS…but i need to create a CSV file that will be used by data entry personel and the administrator will just use a single click to import organization units and data values at once…is that possible in DHIS2?

Hi Mihayo

You can import data values using csv, though the csv must conform to the format described here:

http://www.dhis2.org/doc/snapshot/en/user/html/ch19s03.html

Maybe more than 1 click but not many.

Not sure what you mean by importing orgunits, but this is not straightforward to do with csv.

If you are going to synthesize the CSV file, you may want to consider to use XML instead. This way, you can post it directly to the API, and then you would not need any clicks.

Documented here.

Hi Mihayo, could it be that what you are asking is to import data values and potential new facilities/org units which do not exist in the master database in a single file? If so, we do not support that for good reasons - it will be a source for making your master facility list chaotic. If you are determined to do it, you must first import the organisation units in XML (DXF2) through the meta-data import, and then the data values through CSV (or XML). It can all be done through the web api in addition to the user interface so it sounds like a suitable candidate for an app.
