Setting for what relative periods to display

Hi, just a quick suggestion regarding the relative periods in the analysis tools: could it be a setting somewhere which period types to display?

For example, in most "HMIS settings" I’ve been involved, financial years and bi-monthly period types have not really been used. When tracker is used, users sometimes want to have daily reports with program indicators. Other places, they don’t have any shorter periods than months, so there is not need to have weeks as one of the default etc. I’m sure there are yet again other places where all the "financial years october" etc would be the default instead etc.

Not sure what kind of implications it would have in terms of supporting relative periods in the analytics api etc, but I think it would be a nice addition.

Hi Olav,

this sounds okay and easy enough. Only downside would be potential “setting disease” - too many settings/options. Is it really a problem to have some extra relative periods visible?

Please write a blueprint and we will see what we can do.

regards,

Lars

Hi,

blueprint here: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/dhis2/+spec/system-setting-relative-periods

I see the point of “setting disease”, but at the same time I think it can sometimes be worth it to complicate things for a handful of admins (and devs) if it can make life easier for hundreds of regular users.
