Is it possible to make the search-apps function also include a search into the children or grand-children of menu-shortcuts?

Hi Greg,
You can simply type the name of the app into “Search apps” field. You may need to upgrade your version for this feature, but it is there in recent versions.

Not sure about the other issues you mention.

Hi Greg,

we actually plan to support search for "menu items" like you suggest. For
instance, we are working on merging all the maintenance apps into one, and
to simply type the name of the object you want to list, add or update into
the search field, e.g. "Data element group". Not exactly sure when this
will be complete but the work has started.
