Hi,
a short note to let you know that in open source vs. Oracle (see [1] if you're interested) we vote for open source, and our continuos integration server [2] is now switched from Hudson to Jenkins.
Thanks for the update. I guess that decision was pretty much of a
no-brainer. Looks like a good move to me. On a side note, trademark
really is a powerful form of IP. And has the unique property that,
unlike say patents and copyright, it doesn't expire. So if oracle
want to start asserting trademark rights its surely a good time to
move.

I had been following the story for sometime now and it is interesting how Oracle are handling this. Although the Hudson developers community is not really against Oracle, it’s a challenge to keep up with Oracle/Ted not wanting to budge. After Kohsuke left Oracle, there was obvious questions whether Oracle structure would start dominating instead of the community.
The question is whether plugin developers would be in a position to support both Hudson and Jenkins. I dont believe this is really the end of Hudson, Oracle could well give the name back to the community… and stop shooting itself in the foot in other open-source projects!!

I guess both projects will continue to the existing plugin framework, but it seems pretty much inevitable that the projects will diverge from now on and they will probably not stay compatible in the long run. I guess Sonatype is pretty important for our kind of development platform, and they've very much aligned themselves with oracle. Will be interesting to see how things unfold
