running iReports on Android tablet

We’re starting to use Android tablets for data collection in Rwanda (through DHIS-2) and Limesurvey (another open source survey questionnaire tool). However with DHIS-2 I can’t seem to preview any of the standard reports developed with iReports. The system sends the report as a PDF download instead.

Is there something we need to install on the client side (Android ireport viewer) or is there something missing on the server side. I’m using Chrome browser for Android and DHIS-2 version 2.12. I’ve installed Jaspermobile – a jasper reports viewer for Android, but that doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Any suggestions?

Hi Randy,

the Android Chrome version does not render PDFs.

However, there are lots of free apps which do PDF reading on Android, just go to play store and search for “pdf” and install one. So in dhis, when you download a PDF report, you get a notification in the top bar with the download progress, and a “download complete” notification when its done. If you pull down the top bar and click on that notification, the PDF opens.

I can see that we do not give the PDFs a reasonable name, will fix that.

regards,

Lars
