The Bottleneck Analysis Application (BNA) v1.4.1 has been released.This new version provides support for the changes in APIs up to DHIS2 v2.40, bug fixes, improvements based on community feedback, enhanced security measures and resolution of vulnerabilities.
The app is available for download on the DHIS2 App Hub, or you can conveniently install it directly from the app management module within any DHIS2 instance.

We are currently developing a Health Services Effective Coverage Measurement System within DHIS2 Tracker/Event at the Ethiopian Ministry of Health. The system captures disaggregated, individual-level data and measures health service performance through a seven-stage Effective Coverage cascade.
We have been exploring the UNICEF BNA App because of its strong capability to identify service delivery bottlenecks. However, we understand that the current BNA App is based on the traditional Tanahashi bottleneck model with predefined determinants, which does not fully support our Effective Coverage framework.
We believe there is an opportunity to expand the BNA App beyond the traditional Tanahashi approach by supporting a configurable seven-stage Effective Coverage cascade. Such an enhancement would enable bottleneck analysis across the entire continuum of service delivery using Tracker/Event data rather than only predefined aggregate indicators.
This enhancement could benefit not only Ethiopia but also other countries that are adopting Effective Coverage Measurement to monitor health system performance and quality of care.
We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss whether the existing BNA App could be enhanced to support this new approach, rather than developing a separate application.
