Hi Mahesh,

You absolutely need to either send to the list (preferred) or at least copy Jan, if you want to have answers quickly. I will be travelling from the US to Norway today, and will not be very available.

But quickly, two things:

A) The GIS will not be an option inside DHIS, but something you have to go to explicitly with a different URL, as described by Jan in an earlier message.

B) I made an omission when telling you to build. In fact the procudure is as follows:

1)Go to dhis2\dhis-2 and type

mvn clean install -Dmaven.test.skip=true (You already did this, don’nt have to repeat now)

  1. Then go to dhis2\dhis-2\dhis-web and execute the same command (This is the step I forgot, pls do it now).

  2. Only after step two should you go to dhis2\webservice\dhis-webservice-expoze and again run the same command.

That should give you a file called dhis-webservice-expoze.war in the folder dhis2\webservice\dhis-webservice-expoze\target

Hi Knut

I had been to IIMB yesterday and Prof. Krishna is really interested in integrating GIS to DHIS.

I downloaded geoserver.war and put it under webapps. It is running when I specify localhost:8080\geoserver.

But still I don’t see the GIS option when I execute DHIS2 software.

Another piece of information is I was successfully able to download sourcecode of DHIS 2.

Using maven I downloaded jars for folder dhis, but when I try to download the same for webservice\dhis-webservice-expoze

I get error. The error message is attached in the text file.

What are the next steps to be done to enable GIS and to complete souce code download and compile it.

Come to think of it, it may be better for you to just get geoserver.war from here (much smaller download):

http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=geoserver&filename=geoserver-1.7.3a-war.zip&use_mirror=voxel. After download, rename it to just geoserver.war and place it in tomcat\webapps.

Knut

So now you have the dhis-webservice.war in tomcat\webapps. Then we have to proceed with Jan’s instructions below - unfortunately, there is still a long way to go.

I guess the next hurdle is that you don’t have geoserver.war (right?) so I will try to make that available for you.

Hi Mahesh.

The client is a stand-alone application and the webservice is part of DHIS. Update DHIS and copy the dhis-gis-geostat folder to your tomcat webapps folder.

Build dhis, dhis-web, dhis-webservice and put the webservice war-file in the webapps folder.

Put Geoserver in the webapps folder. Obviously, you need appropriate shapefiles / a matching database as well.

When the application is running, you need to configure the demos/geostat/config.js file. It is not documentet very well, but I guess you will figure it out.

Assign the organisation units by selecting one from the gridpanel and then click the corresponding organisation unit in the map. When you’re done you can select indicator, period etc to display colors.

Hi,

Actually, the GIS is currently “outside” of the core application. It

consists of two parts, a web service and a client application. I copy

Jan Henrik who can probably assist you with getting it up and running

with Karnataka data.

This is an annoying problem, the directory path is simply too long. Please check out the source code to a shorter path (eg E:\source\dhis2\trunk etc)
