Pre-generate event UID

Hello community.

I’m using DHIS2 and I have come across an option in Program settings called “Pre-generated event UID”. The description provided in the documentation is “Select checkbox to pre-generate unique events id numbers” but there is no more information about it, being a bit abstract, and I would like to better understand its functionality (and even that it can be added to the official documentation).

Could someone explain to me in more detail what exactly this option does? What is its purpose and how does checking this box affect the use of the program in Capture App?

Any additional information or practical examples would be helpful to better understand this feature.

I’m still reviewing the information related to this and asking the software core team, but to the best of my knowledge it’s not a deal breaker so whether you check it or not, the program will function as expected. Additionally, I think it’d be used when using API or integrating with external systems so it’s more for developers.
