Greetings from Madagascar. This is my first post to the users group, and I’m not officially a DHIS2 user yet.
I am interested in buying a Java phone for testing the DHIS2 Java Mobile Client, along with other Java apps related to my work.
Here in the capitol, we have been unable to locate a Nokia S40 series phone (which is what was recommended on the DHIS2 website). I would like a recommendation for phone that is somewhat common in Africa.
Is there a strong reason for you to prefer featurephones over Android? The j2me client needs an update before it will work with the newest version of the server (we are planning to fix this, but alas, not yet).

We know Android very well, but we want to be able to test DHIS2 on feature phones as well.
Long version: We have a website that we have developed to work in Opera Mini on feature phones, but we need a feature phone that will allow us to upgrade to the latest version of Opera Mini. I’m hoping we can find in one phone a good test environment for DHIS2 and our Opera-Mini-optimized website.

Hi Ted,
I think most Nokia feature phones will work. Ben and Scott from Akros have a lot of experience using J2ME phones in Zambia and may be able to provide more details about exact models.
As Knut points out, there may be some issues with the J2ME client and different server versions at the moment, which we are looking into.
Regards,
Jason

My first time posting here - hopefully I won’t get shot down too quickly
I am setting up an Indicator in a Program to retrieve all the tests done & instead of writing many commands to get all testing options, is there a way to just get all records that have an entry i.e. not null?
For example, currently I have:
*Malaria Surveillance.SRV - RDT Result == 'Pf' or Malaria Surveillance.SRV - RDT Result == 'Pv' or Malaria Surveillance.SRV - RDT Result == 'Invalid'*
& I would like something shorter e.g. Malaria Surveillance.SRV - RDT Result == !null (not sure if this is the correct syntax, but it doesn’t work for me anyway…)
I hope I have provided clear enough info - please get back to me if needing more.
Thanks in advance!

It’s probably fine if I have to wait until the server issue is worked out. I will not be using the phone for a real-world data collection, but rather to familiarize myself with DHIS2 vis-a-vis the needs of our clients.
How can I reach Ben or Scott? We have two people in Zambia right now for the UNDP Last Mile workshop.
