We are excited to announce the opportunity to take part in a public beta testing campaign for DHIS2 v42, along with the latest version of our Android Capture app. The campaign is set to begin in just a couple of days, and we would love for you to be part of this important phase.
We understand this is short notice, but your feedback is invaluable to us. To find out how you can participate and contribute to improving your favourite software, please visit our beta testing page for more detailed information.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to help improve the quality of DHIS2. We look forward to your participation!
That’s correct. We considered having registration (and there might be some advantages to that), but decided to try to keep it very lightweight this time; with just some simple guidelines and links to report findings.
We can consider setting up a play version with the release candidate, but the primary goal of the beta testing campaign is to allow implementations to test in their own environments, with their own configurations and workflows.
We see that approach as both enhancing the testing of the release, and also giving implementations a head-start in validating the release for their specific needs.
I just wanted to inform you all that we have found some usability issues while preparing the first beta release candidate, and we feel it is important that we resolve those before initiating the beta test campaign.
In order to resolve them properly we are pushing the start of this campaign back to tomorrow afternoon (20th March).
We appreciate your support in this. If you are eager to get involved, we would advise you to study the release and migration notes that are available on the beta testing page linked above; there may be several preparatory steps necessary to allow a smooth deployment when the release is available.
After today there are only two weeks left of the v42 beta testing period.
We haven’t received any bug reports from the public beta yet, and due to the open nature of this campaign, we don’t know if that means nobody has tested anything, or if everything is perfect (We are of course, as usual, finding and fixing issues as part of our internal quality processes).
It would be great to hear if any of you have had the opportunity to perform any beta testing so far, and if you have any impressions you would like to share.
Please feel free to comment in this channel, or reach out to me directly!
Hi @phil, thank you for including us in this process. From my observation, there aren’t any bugs worth mentioning. I installed DHIS2 without any issues. I could have played more with it for sure but looking at the tight deadline, that is what I have to offer.
I did wanted to add that dark mode has not been enabled yet but that can be dealt with later
