October Developer Community Meetup / AI Forum: Open discussion - How are you feeling about AI?

Hello! :waving_hand:

For October’s edition of the @Developer_Meetups event on 2026-10-08T09:00:00Z, we’ll have a more open-ended discussion for something on many people’s minds: How are you feeling about AI? What does it mean for you and your organizations? This could range from ways of work, how it affects developer roles, ethical implications, and psychological impact.

The format for this meetup will be somewhat different from others — it will be an open discussion to communicate with peers, without preparation or presentation. To that end, it won’t be recorded, so everyone can speak openly.

The session will start off with an anonymous interactive survey to get input from everyone in the room:

  • What makes you feel positive about AI?
  • What makes you feel negative about AI?
  • What are your hopes and concerns for the future of AI?

Then, we’ll open the floor for people to elaborate on their feelings and responses. If you want, you can already write in answers for the interactive survey ahead of meetup here: AI Sentiments - DHIS2 Dev Meetup October 2026 | EasyRetro

To join, register using this link: Join Dev. Meetup. You will receive a DM on the CoP with the direct zoom link before the event!

Looking forward to seeing you there! :sparkles:

I still can’t get over yesterday’s Developer Community Meetup  .

This might be the best meeting I have attended this year but before I get into the details I should say…

@kpvandivier, @lina, @Gassim and the rest of the team involved, thank you for creating the space yesterday to have a discussion on this penitent topic:

I really loved the interactive survey that was shared because it removed the pressure of feeling judgment for expressing an opinion that others may not approve:

Secondly, I really loved the space that was created to just speak without worrying about whether it was being recorded or not. Whoever thought of that idea, thank you for this. I appreciate this in retrospect after thinking about it because in the moment I did not think deeply about it. I think events like this captures what the true meaning of what community ought to be. Helping one another without everyone knowing who is being helped because we are in a time were everyone wants to be known for something.

When I went on a walk this morning and kept thinking about all the discussion that my fellow @Developer_Meetups shared and I think the left such a big impact on me that I am truly grateful for.

I think its in environments like this that help you remember you are not alone.

As we all wrestle with different aspects, opportunities and challenges that AI brings to the conversation, I am very hopeful that if communities like this continue to focus on the human, we will have the opportunity to help shape how we view, think and feel about AI and what the future holds.

Kudos to the team for an eventful community meet up :tada:.

PS: I did not use AI to write this :joy:.

It took longer to write because I had to read it a number of times to ensure my thoughts made sense. But the time it took, the mistakes made, that’s important to go through in such times right? We don’t have to outsource everything to AI right?
