Mobile Tracker app for ver 2.30

Hi DHIS2 experts,

I just want to confirm that

  1. the current mobile tracker app is indeed only compatible up to version 2.29 of DHIS2 and

  2. is there a planned release date for the Mobile Tracker app for version 2.30 of DHIS2?

Hi Marta, thanks for the update, does this mean I should ignore Sameen’s comments? Does the August 24 date relate to the mobile application? Lastly, when you say there is no plan on making Android Event Capture or Android Tracker Capture 2.30 compatible, do you mean there’s just no official release date, or is the application being abandoned?

I don’t know if you got a response to this, but I had reached out to the Android team earlier with these questions and got the following information:

  1. the current mobile tracker app is indeed only compatible up to version 2.29 of DHIS2 Correct – current tracker is only supported through 2.29

  2. is there a planned release date for the Mobile Tracker app for version 2.30 of DHIS2? – Release date is August 24

Hi Edward,

yes, all current Android Apps are only compatible up to version 2.29 with the exception of Data Capture, which is the only one compatible with 2.30.

There is no plan on making Android Event Capture or Android Tracker Capture 2.30 compatible, we hope you adopt the new Android App to be released in the coming week for working with 2.29 and 2.30 servers.

DHIS2 2.29 is the last version compatible with both Apps.

Sorry Marta, I mean to include Sameem’s full mail – I just quoted the gist of it…

Thanks for that bit of feedback, I think I understand it now. So the new app will replace the two tracker capture and event capture apps – that makes sense. I wasn’t aware of the change of focus to a unified app.

  • I´m not sure of what Sameen’s comments you are reffering to.

  • The August 24th date is the releases date for the new DHIS2 Android App which will replace Tracker Capture and Event Capture Android Apps

  • If by the Android team you mean the
    android@dhis2.org account… that’s also me responding :slight_smile: Did I give you contradictory information?

  • Tracker Capture and Event Capture Android Apps are not abandoned, they are in maintenance mode (we do bug-fixing but no new functionalities or DHIS2 compatibilities are added)
