MCMR-Data Initiative (Mother & Child Malaria Response Data initiative

Hello DHIS2 Community,
My name is Lawrence, and I am a digital health practitioner working at the intersection of community health, data systems, and access to essential medicines. I have been part of the DHIS2 community for some time and have followed with interest the work and collaborations shared here.
I would like to introduce the Mother & Child Malaria Response Data Initiative (MCMR-Data)—a community-focused initiative that emerged from the need to address persistent malaria-related deaths among children under five and pregnant women in underserved communities.

Where we are coming from

MCMR-Data was born out of field experience in communities where access to malaria medicines is limited, health financing is weak, and data from primary healthcare centres is often underutilized for decision-making. Many of these communities may not have pharmacies, but they do have primary healthcare centres making them a critical entry point for intervention.

Where we are now

We are currently preparing for a pilot phase that integrates:

Community-level malaria data capture using DHIS2
Improved availability and affordability of essential malaria medicines

Linkages to inclusive micro-insurance for severe malaria cases

Data-driven planning to support frontline health workers and decision-makers

The goal is to demonstrate a scalable, DHIS2-enabled model that can be adapted across malaria-endemic settings.

Call for volunteers and collaborators

As we move into the pilot stage, we are looking to collaborate with motivated professionals from within the DHIS2 community who are interested in contributing their expertise, particularly in the following areas:

Product Manager – to help shape the product vision, roadmap, and user needs

DHIS2-experienced Web Developer – to support configuration, customization, and integration

DHIS2 Implementers / Data Specialists – with
experience in routine health data, indicators, and reporting workflows

Initial involvement will be on a volunteer and co-creation basis, with the intention of building a strong core team for the pilot and potential scale-up phase.
If this initiative aligns with your interests or you would like to learn more, I would be glad to connect and explore collaboration opportunities.

I look forward to connecting, learning, and collaborating further within the DHIS2 community.

Warm regards,
