I would like to know if the 2.40 dhis2 version is a LTS one?

You’re asking quite an interesting question, and there are several aspects to address when it comes to software update support.
To begin with, I would like to point out that the apps such as the Data Visualizer app, Capture app, and Data Entry app…etc support continuous release which means that more of these apps can be updated without requiring a complete version upgrade for the entire instance.
The other thing that’s important to know is that the team ensures that they announce way ahead of time when a version will no longer be supported in announcements as well as patch-releases notes.

In general, we publish major releases of the core DHIS2 software on a yearly basis and provide support and maintenance updates for the three most recent versions. Although we don’t follow an LTS model, this means that each new version has effectively 3 years of support. So, for example, shortly after 2.43 (v43) is released, around May 2026, we will stop maintaining 2.40 (v40). v40 was first released in May 2023.
We publish regular patch releases for all supported versions to address bugs and feature updates between major releases. We also publish “hotfix” releases as needed to address urgent security vulnerabilities or critical bugs. It is important to keep your patches up to date in order to keep your DHIS2 system as secure as possible.
As @Gassim mentioned, many of the Apps can be updated independently of the core, and most are also compatible with core versions that are out of support.
We publish updates to the Android Capture app twice a year.
