Loss Of Data Set in Data Entry

Dear all,

I am facing a bit of a problem.

I created a new dataset for an ongoing country wide measles outbreak and assigned this data set to a given organization unit group I had created. However, now these facilities are no longer displaying the other previous datasets that are still assigned to them. For example, I have a Bualalele clinic that has the “Monthly Report of Health Activities” dataset assigned to it. This was also part of the OU group that I assigned the measles dataset to. :

However, when I go to check in the data entry, only the measles dataset appears as an available dataset for Bualele facility. This is true of all of the facilities I added the new measles dataset to.

I am therefore wondering what happened to the previously assigned datasets for all of these organization units? I would greatly appreciate any help. I am using version 2.14:

Thank you kindly.

Hi Can you check if this dataset is assigned the corresponding user role as well?

Dear Nick,

I am not very sure but try to check on user roles and make sure that the user you are using to login is assigned to that specific dataset.

Did you checked this in User roles: “Attachment”

I’ve faced something similar before, and if I remember correctly the key here is this:

new dataset and assigned this data set to a given organization unit group I had created.

Assignment through orgunit groups «override» whatever other assignments you have made. So I think if you remove the dataset from that group, things will return to normal. Then you can use the group instead in the regular «data set assignment» page to assign the dataset to the group members.

This behaviour is a bit strange in my opinion, as I think most people will assume that if they assign something through a group AND manually, the orgunit will have access all those datasets.

Olav

Hi,
I think Olav is right. Here is a recent thread discussing the confusion around this (including arguments both against and in favor of the current setup):

Dear all,

Thank you for your assistance.

Knut, Olav,

Thank you for those specific instructions and link. I was able to get this working after following your instructions. I usually assign by type, and it seems this does not override other assignments I have made? Is this correct? In this case we have select areas for vaccine administration which is why I assigned by group in this case, however it did end up over-riding the previous assignments.

Lifesavers. Thanks,

Nick
