Leveraging DHIS2 platform for Child health program

For the past five years, DHIS2 has been one of the main systems which collects health data nationally in Maldives. The introduction of Electronic immunization registry (EIR), first DHIS2 tracker based module in 2022 act as a catalyst for developing most of the public health modules such as child growth monitoring and developmental milestone tracking, and tracker based maternal health module. As we celebrate the successful implementation of EIR and Launching of the Maldives Integrated Health Information System’s Public Portal last year we further expanded EIR program and included new features to track the child’s growth monitoring, development milestones and vitamin A and deworming related information. This commitment is to ensure that every child who will be born from 1st January 2025 will have a trackable, longitudinal, digital child health record. This module was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of health, Health Information Management and research Division and the Nutrition program of the Health Protection Agency in the Maldives. WHO was the main financial contributor for the development of the module. Additionally UNFPA funded to pilot this module along with the maternal health module at one of the atolls in maldives. After piloting the modules, we have enhanced the system according to the feedback of the users. In December nationwide roll out of the module was initiated. Online training for the atolls and Male’ Area facilities was conducted in December 2024. Tracker based Maternal health module and family planning aggregate forms will be rolled out nationwide in the first quarter of 2025.
