Java's future and its impact on DHIS2

Hi

As many of you know, there are major changes coming in terms of the future of Java. Basically,

  • Oracle has transferred parts of Java EE to the Eclipse foundation

  • Oracle is commercialising other parts of Java

Has anybody within the DHIS community assessed these upcoming changes? Will the platform be able to continue using only FOSS Java, like Eclipse’s Jakarta EE and the OpenSDK?

Not quite sure if anyone has given this topic a thought, but it will be good to have a roadmap as to what can be explored in the future
