Integrate an external database with DHIS2

Hello DHIS2 Community,

I am working on a project that involves integrating an external Nutrition Database into DHIS2.
I would appreciate your guidance on the following points:

  1. What is the best approach to integrate an external database with DHIS2? (e.g., Web APIs, direct database link, manual import?)
  2. Are there existing tools, apps, or modules that support nutrition-specific data integration?
  3. Any recommended best practices or common challenges I should watch out for?

Hi @malik.hmis

Welcome back to the community!

May I ask what is the purpose of the integration? Do you already have DHIS2 metadata configured that you would like to fill information from?

There are probably several ways for Implementation - Implémentation > Interoperability (integration); however, usually using API is the most direct one. Would you share more about the use case itself? Is it possible to get the nutrition data directly to DHIS2 instead of having a separate database?

Thanks!

Hello Malik,
I have worked with Nutrition data and DHIS2 for a while. But as a health person and not a techie. Can you explain what you need to add from the current Nutrition database to DHIS2. Maybe I can help you. You can contact me directly at norah@hisp.org
