How to display many layers (name and value) on DHIS2 Map

Dear Community members,

I would like to display 3 differents indicators on a single map. I created a layer for each indicator. However, only the value and name of the recent layer is being displayed. while i want all the indicators values visible on the map.
Can someone orient me how to make this.
I am using DHIS2 vers2.40.6

Hi Amza,
I am no GIS/DHIS2 maps expert, others may have a better solution
I am not sure about displaying all the 3 layer values at the same time, but you can look at 2 layers at a time by changing the opaque layer. There is an ‘eye’ where you can show or hid the visibility of a layer. Then a line while allows you to change (toggle) the opacity of the layer. The shorter the line, the lower the visibility, and if you have used 2 distinct shading types, you should be able to see the difference between 2 layers. The default is to show only the top layer. I hope this helps you

Hi Amza & Norah,

Thanks for the question.

Generally speaking adding multiple variables to a map adds complexity to the interpretation for the reader.
Also the mapper has to be extra-careful that one symbology does not get in the way of the other, which can get difficult to predict with dynamic maps like we have in the maps app (everything reads well for one month, but then the next month a lot of areas overlap and thing are not so clear).

Currently:

  1. I think the best option for 3 indicators may be to create 3 maps and have them side by side in a dashboard (Small Multiples).

Make sure to use the same legend if you are quantifying the same thing.

If the you are quantifying different things it is a good option to have different colors to makes the difference more visible.

  1. You can create indicators that summarize your variables: highlight gaps/excesses when you want to see the response to a need for instance (see below - not sure about that purple, but you want to highlight values that might be problematic), in other scenario creating an index could be appropriate.

  1. For 2 indicators you could use a combination of a Choropleth map and Proportional Symbols on top (both thematic layers).

  1. Think of whether you really need a map. A map might not be the best tool to study your dataset.

Other features we could think of introducing in the future:

Do not hesitate to tell us what you came up with!

Hello and thank you Norah and Bruno for your insights.
I’ve choose to use bubble map and i’ve been able to produce the following map :

However when i want to save the map the colors changed to dark/black, which i think it is a bug

how can i get the image look exactly as is

This is definitely a bug, I think it is related to this ticket: Jira, please add a comment if you think the description is missing anything. I will prioritize it.

FYI, the fix for maps-app has been released with v101.3.1.
Let me know if you still experience the same issue.
