Interesting question @didate! We might actually need to create a feature request, but I still need to research one thing which is using Data Input Periods. Please don’t test on a production insatance as I’m not sure what the consequences to making this change will mean to data entered in previous (older) periods …etc
@didate: adding data input periods will not hide the actual period from the drop down selections, but it will lock periods, so you should not be able to enter date for any period without a data input period. I believe in the version of the data entry app you are using, it will give you an error message when you actually edit the data. In the newer version of the data entry app (data entry Beta from 2.39+, it will lock the form and prevent users from editing).
If you would like to actually be able to hide periods so that they’re not selectable, that’s not possible, but as @Gassim suggested, it is a feature that you could request.
Thanks @tzemp!
I happen to just pass by the docs and read this:
[Attribute] Category Combination option restrictions
- If Attribute Category Combinations … are used, then this features gives admins the ability to restrict which specific options are available in the drop-down. Each option can be restricted to a particular range of dates and/or organisation units, and that option will not be shown if data is being captured outside of these dates or org units.
“Each option can be restricted to a particular range of dates and/or organisation units, and that option will not be shown if data is being captured outside of these dates or org units.” maybe this can be used if @didate creates an attribute category combination for the dataset and set the restrictions to certain periods then the option will be hidden if a user selects a period other than the ones set.
However, this is still a bit different than hiding the period themselves. @didate if the options above doesn’t work, would you like to create a feature request Projects - Jira and share it here?
Thanks!
