in next version (2.14) we plan to do some changes to the general list of objects (data elements, indicators, programs and so on).
The idea is to replace the now impractical number of icons for each row with a better solution.
Your challenge is to navigate to the list of data elements (link below) and perform tasks like i) editing a data element ii) removing a data element iii) viewing detailed info of a data element.

Just had a quick play around and the new system seems far more
intuitive and less liable to making mistakes than the previous as
one can click directly on the text for the item - I regularly
clicked the correct icon in the wrong row previously…
Great stuff devs!

explore it and let us know in this thread
how intuitive and usable you find the new
solution.

I would personally prefer having one more step before opening the popup(context) menu.
Like on ‘row mouse over’ or on ‘row click’, a menu icon/menu title box could appear next to the row title. Upon clicking that icon, the same menu popup appears. Clicking anywhere else (other than the menu icon) would hide the popup menu.

Based on the feedback, I have made two small changes. They will see a “hand” when they hover over the list, so it should indicate that they can click on it. I have also made it easier to “unclick” the context menu.
It will be available in about 30 mins on our /dev server.

You can now also hide the context-meny when you press the escape button.
