[GSOC 2016] Line Listing Importer

I have zeroed in on the “Line Listing Importer”

I have some queries:

  1. Has the Line Listing Importer idea to be implemented as a separate Web App or integrated with the existing Import-Export module?
  2. Can a sample CCD/XML document be provided?

Hello DHIS2 Community,

This is Prayash Mohapatra, currently in 3rd year of B.Tech at CET, Bhubaneswar.
I am a full stack developer.

Following are the languages/frameworks I learnt over time.
Frontend - HTML, CSS, JavaScript mostly jQuery. (Bootstrap)
Backend - Started with PHP, Tried Node.js for a project, Now on Python. (Slim, Express.js, socket.io, Flask, BeautifulSoup, peewee)
Database - MySQL
Mobile Application - Java on Android

Following are my side projects, pursued in my college life:
http://prayashm.github.io/3DCet - A 3D Map of our college, which can be navigated (1st Year project)
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.zairza.zbuzzer - Multi user realtime buzzer using websockets (2nd Year project)
http://resultsmirror.cetb.in - Mirror of University results for our college, searchable by name (3rd Year project)

I also volunteer at local communities like Bakul Foundation, Google Developers Group - Bhubaneswar
and Microsoft Developers Commuity - Odisha. I personally find DHIS2 appealing as I interned in a company in similar field.

I am interested in “Line listing record importer” and “Scriptable SMS Parsing” ideas, as I am already familiar with making REST APIs
and SMS Apps have fascinated me since school. We had built a SMS app using txtweb.com platform for Election Season.

I am going through the mentioned resources, and will ask if I get stuck somewhere.

Hi Prayash,

I am sorry for responding late, we have a lot of applicants this year. Hence, it is really challenging to respond everyone on time. I am forwarding your email to project mentor.

Best Regards,

Hello Sir,

Thanks a lot for helping.
I understand your challenges. I had already cc-ed my queries to the mentor.
I understand that I was late in interacting with dhis2 community as pointed
out
in a mail to me from mark.polo.dhis2@gmail.com.

···

I am really sorry if I interacted in a wrong way.

If you can, do point me where I went wrong.
I'll be careful so that anything like it doesn't happen again.
Thanks a lot.

Dear student, this is not the way to interact and contribute to an open
source community. We had already assigned some time to discuss the
project idea which is over by now. You better try your luck next time
with gsoc or with some other organization. We have already marked
the candidates for our different projects.

Hi Prayash,

Someone tried to fake email account of our developer and mentor: Mark Polak. This address: mark.polo.dhis2@gmail.com - does not belong to any of our developers or community members.

The person who is responsible for Line Listing Importer project is Saptarshi Purkayastha, and he is included in the thread. Probably Saptarshi is very busy now, so I highly recommend you to start writing proposal draft now and submitting it through GSoC portal.

Please, do not trust anyone who tries to convince you that you are not eligible for GSoC. According to rules of Google Summer of Code, the list of accepted students will be announced only on April 22. Before announcement, even organization members cannot guarantee that student will be accepted, so do not lose confidence and continue working on proposal.
