Sounds fine with me but the first step would be to update the docs with the current procedure for loading data. Seems like Knut may have written this up in email some time back?
I would like to suggest that we finally remove the map source types
“GeoJSON” and “Shapefiles” from the GIS client. They are not able to offer
most of the functionality that will be implemented in the future and even
maintaining them as they are would hamper the development of new
functionality considerably. However, overlays could still be loaded from
local geojson files.
In other words, I would like to control the geojson input to the thematic
widgets completely by letting our own server produce it. This geojson may
contain data from Geoserver, health surveys etc.

Hi,
I would like to suggest that we finally remove the map source types
"GeoJSON" and "Shapefiles" from the GIS client. They are not able to offer
most of the functionality that will be implemented in the future and even
maintaining them as they are would hamper the development of new
functionality considerably. However, overlays could still be loaded from
local geojson files.

One more thing. Now the only setting left in the admin panel is date type (fixed periods/start-end dates). Is this really supposed to be a user/system setting? In my opinion it should be handled the way value type (indicator/data element) and legend type (automatic/predefined) are in the thematic widget panels. There is no reason to force the polygon and point layer to use the same date type.
The disadvantage is the presence of yet another component in these panels, but I think it should be done anyway.

Actually, I guess the date type is something that you don’t want to select every time, so let’s keep it as a user setting. However, there should be a settings button on the map toolbar instead of the accordion admin panel.
