• Remembering Bob Jolliffe: With deep sadness, HISP UiO shared news of the passing of Bob Jolliffe, a beloved member of the DHIS2 community and HISP UiO team for nearly two decades, remembered for his dedication to training people worldwide on server administration, integration, and security. • DHIS2 impact: Expanding cancer surveillance to 13 million across Rwanda with DHIS2: The Rwanda Biomedical Centre used DHIS2 to replace paper-based cancer registration, extending the national cancer registry’s reach from 1.2 million people in Kigali to more than 13 million nationwide and raising the share of patients with documented treatment outcomes from roughly 50% to at least 85%. • DHIS2 impact: Pakistan scales DHIS2 to more than 1,650 health facilities, improving care for mothers and children: A UNICEF article describes how health authorities deployed DHIS2 across Balochistan province, replacing paper-based reporting and giving officials real-time visibility into maternal, newborn, and child health services. • HISP receives new Wellcome grant to scale DHIS2 for climate & health: A three-year, £4 million grant from Wellcome will support HISP’s work with country partners to scale adoption of DHIS2 climate-health tools for improved planning, preparedness, and response to climate-related threats. • Introducing Open Climate Service: A new open-source project under development by HISP, Open Climate Service gives countries a locally owned platform to ingest, manage, process, and publish climate and Earth observation data, designed to complement DHIS2 Maps and the Climate app while remaining independent of DHIS2. • Explore DHIS2 tools for predictive modeling & forecasting: A new webpage details flexible tools developed through the DHIS2 Climate & Health project that let users leverage DHIS2 and other data sources for predictive modeling and forecasting across various use cases. Learn more

• Webinar: Lab Information System – DHIS2 integration toolkit: On 28 September at 13:00 CET, HISP will present a new LIS-DHIS2 integration toolkit developed with the US CDC to help streamline lab result handling for disease surveillance programs. Register now

• Updated capacity building information & resources: A new DHIS2 Capacity Building section on the website offers an overview of HISP’s approach to capacity building, an interactive tool to help countries develop national DHIS2 core teams, and easier access to webinars, tutorials, and courses. • HISP Africa Partners Convening 2026: Registration is open for this event (24–25 September, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia), bringing together HISP Africa groups, governments, development partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration on sustainable, country-owned information systems. • DHIS2 Asia-Pacific Conference 2026: Registration is open for the fifth edition of this annual regional event (5–7 October, Colombo, Sri Lanka), featuring discussion and hands-on technical learning for the DHIS2 community. Register now
