- DHIS2 2026 Awards: HISP UiO has launched a new awards program to recognize excellence across the global community in innovation, collaboration, and impact. Nominations are open for all members, with the ceremony set for the 2026 Annual Conference.
- Gaza SRH Dashboard: In response to the humanitarian crisis, Palestine’s Ministry of Health, with support from UNFPA and HISP MENA, launched a DHIS2-based Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) dashboard to track services in real-time and guide lifesaving decisions.
- Africa CDC Digital Health Priorities: Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of Africa CDC, recently named DHIS2 as a key tool for digitizing public health systems, calling for DHIS2 Tracker to be deployed to every community health worker across the continent.
- Norway Development Policy Roundtable: HISP UiO hosted a discussion with Norwegian government officials at the HISP Centre to discuss “Project Turning Point,” highlighting the role of open-source technology and long-term partnerships in global development.
- WHO Collaborating Centre Renewal: The World Health Organization has renewed HISP UiO’s designation as a WHO Collaborating Centre for health information systems strengthening for an additional four-year term.
- Climate & Health Developments:
- Over 60 participants from 15 countries attended a spatiotemporal modeling workshop in Kigali, Rwanda.
- Malawi launched a new project to strengthen surveillance of climate-sensitive diseases, supported by GIZ and HISP UNIMA.
- Global News & Research:
- Uganda: Research confirms that DHIS2’s user-friendliness facilitates effective data use for program planning.
- Sudan: The Ministry of Health launched a 5-year digital strategy featuring DHIS2 for facility connectivity.
- India: DHIS2 was represented at the India AI Impact Summit to discuss trustworthy AI.
- HISP Network Highlights:
- Uganda: National training was held for DHIS2-based digital health registries.
- Morocco: HISP UiO shared insights on DHIS2 and digital identity integration at MOSIP Connect.
- Rwanda: HISP Rwanda and Saudigitus are supporting the “Zero Out-of-School Children” project with a DHIS2 student tracking system.
- USA: The DHIS2 Symposium in Arlington featured use cases for Education and sustainability.
- Annual Conference Reminder: The early-bird registration deadline for the 2026 DHIS2 Annual Conference and Climate & Health Academy (15-18 June in Oslo) is 20 March.
Technology
- Modeling Software Releases: New versions of the Chap Modeling Platform (v1.2.0) and the DHIS2 Modeling App (v4.0) are now available with performance improvements and bug fixes.
- DHIS2 Feature Check-In: A new monthly initiative has launched to gather community feedback on existing features, starting with a review of Multi-Organisation Unit Forms.
- DHIS2 v43 & Android Beta Testing: A public beta testing campaign for the next major software release begins on 18 March 2026.
- Immunization Demand Module: Developed with UNICEF, this new module helps countries monitor social and practical determinants of vaccination uptake.
- Software Updates: Latest patch releases include DHIS2 v41.8 and v40.11.
