Highlights:

  • DHIS2 2025 Annual Conference Rallies Global Participation: The 2025 DHIS2 Annual Conference in Oslo, Norway, gathered almost 350 people from over 70 countries in June, with more than 2,000 registering to participate online. The conference focused on sustaining DHIS2 in challenging times, reflecting the community’s commitment to innovation and scale. Recordings of the sessions are available, including in French.
  • New HISP Projects and Partnerships: New DHIS2 projects and collaborations supported by the HISP network include Palestine integrating Maternal, Child, and Family Health Systems with a single DHIS2 platform , and Nigeria’s Digital DHIS2-EMIS Project in 12 states focused on making education data work.
  • Lessons Learned from the DHIS2 Climate & Health Project: The first year of the DHIS2 Climate & Health project, a collaboration between HISP UiO, international experts, and local stakeholders in 10 countries across Africa and Asia, yielded valuable insights that were shared with partners in June.
  • HISP UiO Releases 2024 Annual Report: The 2024 annual report from HISP UiO details the work of the core DHIS2 team and the HISP network in supporting sustainable, locally-owned information systems globally.
  • HISP Represents DHIS2 at UN-Organized Events: DHIS2 was represented at two UN-organized events in June. Dr. Pamod Amarakoon participated in UN Open Source Week in New York , and a stand featuring DHIS2, YR, and VIPS was present at the Internet Governance Forum in Norway, where Professor Kristin Braa also joined a panel discussion.
  • HISP UiO Researchers Join Norwegian National AI Centre: Researchers from HISP UiO, along with partners from the DHIS2 for Climate & Health project, are part of TRUST—The Norwegian Centre for Trustworthy AI—which aims to develop an interdisciplinary knowledge base for safe, fair, and responsible AI.
  • DHIS2 News & HISP Activity Roundup:
    • Toolkit for Case-Based Mpox Surveillance in Africa: HISP UiO and HISP Africa hub representatives collaborated with Africa CDC to design a DHIS2-based toolkit for managing the ongoing Mpox outbreak.
    • DHIS2 Health Program Capacity Building in Indonesia: HISP Indonesia facilitated a two-day training to advance the capacity of health program teams and sub-district health offices in using DHIS2.
    • Malaria Data Repository in Uganda: HISP Uganda met with the Ministry of Health of Uganda to develop a robust DHIS2-powered malaria repository to integrate all malaria-related data for stronger decision-making.
    • South-South Collaboration for Stronger Education Systems: Members of the DHIS2 for Education team published an article on lessons learned from a knowledge exchange between education leaders in The Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Eswatini.
  • Call for Papers for Special DHIS2-Themed Issue of SSM - Health Systems: HISP UiO invites contributions for a special issue of the SSM - Health Systems journal, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue on innovation and DHIS2-enabled health systems, particularly from low- and middle-income countries.
  • What’s Coming Next in DHIS2!: The core DHIS2 software team presented new features and functionalities and shared insights on the upcoming software roadmap at the Annual Conference, with recordings available.
  • Announcing the Reference Org Unit Sync Implementation: HISP UiO released a Reference Org Unit Sync Implementation to guide users in developing solutions for one-way synchronization of organizational units, groups, and group sets between DHIS2 instances and other services.
  • DHIS2 Software Updates & Patch Releases: Information is available on the latest patch releases and updates, including DHIS2 version 41.4.1 (Hotfix) and DHIS2 version 40.8.1 (Hotfix).
  • Upcoming DHIS2 Academies:
    • Visualizing Data in DHIS2 Academy: August 11-15, Kigali, Rwanda, hosted by HISP Rwanda, focusing on mastering analytics tools for impactful dashboards.
    • DHIS2 Server Administration Academy: August 18-22, Colombo, Sri Lanka, hosted by HISP Sri Lanka, covering installation and maintenance of DHIS2 software.
    • DHIS2 Asia-Pacific Conference 2025: October 15-17, Bali, Indonesia, marking its 4th year as a regional gathering for sharing experiences and learning about developments.
    • AcadĂ©mie DHIS2 sur les fondamentaux de la configuration Android: July 28 - August 1, Yamoussoukro, CĂ´te d’Ivoire, hosted by HISP CĂ´te d’Ivoire, focusing on best practices for the DHIS2 Android Capture app.
  • CoP Monthly: Highlights from DAC2025, Helpful and Active Community Members, and More!: The copmonthly roundup from the DHIS2 Community of Practice features top topics from June, including highlights from the DHIS2 Annual Conference and opportunities to recognize helpful users.
  • Browse DAC2025 Content More Easily with Daily Summaries on the CoP: AI-generated summaries with links to recordings and resources for the DHIS2 Annual Conference sessions are available on the Community of Practice to help users navigate the content.
  • Learn About Building Flutter Mobile Apps Which Use the DHIS2 Android SDK: A developer meetup on July 10 will discuss how the University of Dar es Salaam’s developer team integrated the Android SDK within Flutter apps, allowing full native SDK functionality.
  • FlexiPortal by HISP Tanzania Wins 2025 App Competition!: FlexiPortal was announced as the winner of this year’s DHIS2 App Competition, which saw over 20 high-quality submissions and 3 finalists.
