Our instructions on the Developer Portal work very well for MacOS. You should be able to follow all guides and get it set up nicely.

Let me know if you have any specific questions or if anything did not get explained (well) there.

I’m on a Mac as well, and pretty new to DHIS2.

The easiest way for me to get started with the app was Docker. Orbstack is the docker engine I use. Docker Desktop is another option. There are others.

Thank you for sharing. I’m using Windows and the Docker setup has been the easiest and quickest to get started. Are you using your instance to learn more about DHIS2 or already using it for production?

My personal setup is a learning rig. I work with some instances in production, but none whose deployment is under my personal care yet.

You might want to check out @Rene’s suggestion:

If this is for local testing and not for production you can follow these simple steps (I haven’t test this myself but I tested the steps on Windows):

  1. Install Mac | Docker Docs
  2. Open your Bash shell on Mac then type copy and paste the following command:
git clone https://github.com/dhis2/docker-deployment.git && \  
  cd docker-deployment && \  
  export GEN_APP_HOSTNAME=dhis2-127-0-0-1.nip.io && \  
  export GEN_LETSENCRYPT_ACME_EMAIL=whatever@dhis2.org && \  
  ./scripts/generate-env.sh && \  
  make launch

If it’s installed properly, it should allow you to open using the hostname https://dhis2-127-0-0-1.nip.io –
source.

Please share screenshot(s) and the log if it doesn’t install.
