DHIS2 audit tool

Dear DHIS2 community,

Over the past months at Bluesquare we’ve been working on a free DHIS2 audit tool, and we are now very happy to open it up for anyone to use.

It connects read-only to any DHIS2 instance and gives you instant insight in six different audit modules:

General: Checks whether your instance is running an outdated version, when analytics were last run, and whether inactive user accounts are still enabled.

Datasets: Flags datasets with 0% reporting rate, analyzes timeliness and completeness, detects validation not enforced on completion, and identifies scope drift where removed org units still have historical data attached.

Data Elements: Identifies orphan elements not assigned to any dataset, and detects elements used across datasets with different period types causing aggregation inconsistencies.

Indicators: Detects broken UID references in numerator/denominator formulas, validates dependencies on data elements and constants, and scores indicator quality.

Programs (Tracker): Explore programs, their stages, data elements and rules easily; find program rules that hide data elements marked as mandatory for stage completion, creating silent data collection failures.

Organization Units: Surfaces missing geometry blocking map visualizations, name quality issues (trailing spaces, smart quotes) that break API filters, and identifies duplicate health facilities.

And much more.

You can try it on the DHIS2 demo instance or connect your own instance right away: https://dhis2-audit.bluesquare.org/ The tool runs completely locally on your browser so no data is stored whatsoever.

For those interested in going beyond diagnosis: several of the issues the tool flags can be resolved automatically through OpenHEXA, our open-source data integration and analysis platform. Bluesquare has been extensively using OpenHEXA and its pipelines to solve issues in DHIS2 instances, and we are therefore also proposing dedicated DHIS2 standard pipelines.

If you would be interested in knowing more, feel free to reach out to us via products@bluesquarehub.com

We’re actively improving the tool and would welcome feedback from the community on what’s useful and what’s missing, so do not hesitate to comment or reach out with any feedback!

Greetings,

Bluesquare Team

Hi @Thomas_Warichet

Thank you for sharing this with the community and for building a free DHIS2 audit tool. Hopefully community members will provide feedback as they start using this. I’ve added the tag dhis2-audit-tool for all future related topics to this tool.

Thank you as well for sharing about the open-source project OpenHEXA you are leading. :+1:
