DHIS2 2.41.1 – Program stage sections appear in Tracker Capture but not in Capture App (sections below a point not rendering)

Instance Details

  • Program Type: Tracker Program

  • Form Type: Section based (no custom form)

Issue Description

Several sections configured in a program stage appear correctly in Tracker Capture, but are not rendering in the Capture App, even though:

  • Sections are present in Maintenance

  • Data elements are assigned to each section

  • No custom form is configured

Observed behaviour:

  • When a data element is moved from a non-displaying section into a displaying section, it appears in Capture.

  • When a new section is created above the displaying sections, it shows in Capture.

  • Any section created below the currently displaying sections does not appear in Capture.

  • A non displaying section added above a displaying section prevents that section from showing.

  • This behaviour is consistent across test, dev and production environments.

This suggests that section ordering or an invalid/corrupted section is preventing subsequent sections from rendering in the Capture App.

Troubleshooting Already Done

Removed custom form
Confirmed elements are assigned to the program stage
Reordered sections
Cleared cache
Tested on multiple instances
Exported metadata, changed sort order in metadata and reimported.
Confirmed works in Tracker Capture

Please check that the sortOrder in all the related metadata is unique and correctly sorted as this might be the issue. You might need to modify this in the database directly. @ctejo faced a similar issue: Cannot open Capture App - #5 by ctejo

Also, after you do all the debugging and fixing, please test using the browser’s Guest mode [bulletproof way to avoid browser cache issue] and I assume you’re also using the Maintenance clear application cache in the Data Administration app..
