DHIS Web mapping HOW-To?

HI there. I would like to give a demo of DHIS2 soon, and would like to include the web-mapping module if possible. I have the latest version of the app from launchpad up and running, and have produced GeoJSON files for all of my admin units. Does anyone have any basic documentation of instructions for how to get this running?

Thanks a lot!

Jason

Hi Jason. I am working on the user doc right now and will commit it in a few hours. Make sure to update again as I just commited a few fixes. Meanwhile I recommend giving this shapefile simplifier a try (polygons and lines only):

http://mapshaper.com/test/demo.html

It may reduce the size of your shapefiles dramaticly and still make them look good, sometimes even better. Lighter shapefiles do wonders to the overall performance of the application.

I have already slimmed them down pretty good with ArcGIS, but will take look at this tool as well.

Thanks. Will look forward to the document.

Right, then go for ArcGIS which is probably better. The reason for suggesting MapShaper was that people are generally not that good with shapefiles.

Not sure it is better actually. I would prefer to use FME for this purpose, but do not have it here. The files from MapShaper looked better, as I was able to control the amount of simplification. You cannot do this with ArcGIS.

Where are those docs.

Final commit for 2.0.2 from Lars is only a couple of minutes away so please wait for it and re-build. GIS feedback is highly appreciated by me.

Fantastic, major step forward. Happy to report the GIS module has produced a map of real data for Zambia. I will make a few changes to the user documentation and have some other feedback which I will provide shortly.

Excellent work!
