The Payment Validation Application (PVA) was successfully piloted in Nigeria’s deworming program to address issues with payment delays and failures caused by inaccurate or incomplete data. A mobile-enabled data system, leveraging DHIS2 Tracker Capture and a NUBAN verification app, was implemented to streamline data collection and validate bank details instantly.
This digital transformation resulted in significant improvements:
- Failed payments were dramatically reduced from 3% to 0.35%.
- Payment delays decreased from 8 weeks to less than 4 weeks.
- Data entry became cleaner, faster, and more complete.
- participant satisfaction were enhanced.
The model proved both efficient and scalable with only two trained staff per Local Government Area (LGA).
