DHIS 1.4 now supports Projects

"This build also include a new component in the DHIS CORE module related to
the capture, storage, analysis and reporting of data related to internal and
external support PROJECTS in health establishments. Up to now, there has
been no system available providing data on the myriad of internal
(DoH-funded) and external (donor- or NGO/Private funded) support projects
found in the health sector. HISP will be providing initial training to
provinces/districts on the use of this component in the coming weeks."

Subject: DHIS 1.4 build 129 uploaded to Hispkerala
To: dhis14@hisp.info

Hi,

DHIS 1.4 build 129 has been uploaded to Hispkerala. This build fulfils
several functions:

1.
It includes several bug fixes, in particular related to Data Entry of
Quality Assurance data. An annoying bug in build 127 causing a number of
data records with zero values to be inserted during data entry has also been
fixed. Some functions like the importing of data is now faster than before,
especially when importing very large XML/Text export files.

2.
This build includes a new component in the DHIS CORE module related to the
capture, storage, analysis and reporting of data from the "Core Standards
and Measures" facility surveys. The "Core Standards and Measures" survey
data sets were distributed to the Quality Improvement clusters in all SA
provinces last week (then as build 128), and the data sets comprise nearly
600 data elements covering all aspects of facility norms and standards. The
National Dept of Health intends to survey 25% of all facilities every year
(i.e. a four-year cycle), but hospitals and PHC facilities can run the same
survey as an internal audit for self-improvement purposes.

3.
This build also include a new component in the DHIS CORE module related to
the capture, storage, analysis and reporting of data related to internal and
external support PROJECTS in health establishments. Up to now, there has
been no system available providing data on the myriad of internal
(DoH-funded) and external (donor- or NGO/Private funded) support projects
found in the health sector. HISP will be providing initial training to
provinces/districts on the use of this component in the coming weeks.

Because of these new components, it is absolutely crucial that all existing
DHIS users follow the standard procedure for implementing the new build:

(a) Start the DHIS CORE module, and switch to the empty template data file
(DHIS_#oo.mdb). Close the DHIS.
(b) Download "DHIS140129_ModuleFiles.exe" or "DHIS140129_ModuleFiles.7z" and
save it in your DHIS14 folder.
(c) Extract the content of the module file, and say "yes to all" to
overwrite your previous module files (note: this does NOT affect your data
file)
(d) Start the DHIS again, verify that you are now using build 129, and then
switch back to your normal data file.

If you get error messages during start-up or during data file switching
about the table "Partner" missing, then you have NOT followed the procedure
a->d above.

Please also verify that the date/time setting on your PC is correct - I have
come across several PCs recently with date/time settings in the future
(2011, or even 2050)

Finally, note that the release of this build is urgent due to those new
components, so there's been no time to release a beta version first. From
build 130, we aim at regularising the use of beta versions better, to allow
Ministries/Departments of Health a two-weeks test period before the formal
release of a new build.

Best regards
Calle
