Data integrity question

From the manual:
https://docs.dhis2.org/2.26/en/user/html/dataAdmin_dataIntegrity.html

19.1.2. Data elements without groups

Some Data Elements have been allocated to several Data Element Groups. This is currently not allowed, because it will result in duplication of linked data records in the analytics record sets that provide aggregated data. Go to Maintenance → Data Element Groups to review each Data Element identified and remove the incorrect Group allocations.

Is that a typo?

Is “Data elements without groups” not for data elements that have not been assigned to a group instead of data elements that have been assigned to more than one group?

Looking at the data set on my side, the elements that appear in that list don’t appear to be assigned to any groups.

Could someone clarify?

Thanks,

Ed

Thanks for the feedback Nayeem, are you saying that the manual is incorrect (it’s been like that since 2.16 and possibly before)? Or are you saying it’s possible despite it creating issues (as mentioned in the manual)?

I see, the explanation is bit confusing. I have used same data element in several groups from 2.3 to 2.27 and never faced any problem in analytics.

Hi Ed,

I think it is a “bug” in the documentation. The explanation as it stands is unclear and seems to be misleading.

This integrity check simply looks (or should based on its description) for data elements which are not part of any groups. This is not intrinsically a problem, but can present issues if people want to filter data elements in the pivot tables, it can be come confusing.

Please feel free to submit a pull request to the docs, or create a JIRA ticket and we will try and fix it as soon as we can.

Jason
