Darshan Hiranandani : Is it Possible to Limit Tracker Program Event Downloads in DHIS2-RTS for Offline Use?

Hi everyone,

I’m Darshan Hiranandani, working on implementing DHIS2-RTS in Comoros, and we’re facing an issue with event downloads in the Capture Android app for the Tracker program. Here’s the situation:

  • We need to download all TEIs (about 150) for a specific OU, even if there have been no events or if the last event occurred long ago.
  • We also need to limit event downloads. Since past events are generally not visible to users, we only need the most recent event or transaction data, if available.
  • The offline Line Listing should show only the last 30 days of events.
  • Additionally, we’re concerned about how limiting TEIs or event downloads might affect analytics.

I’m aware that Event programs allow event download limits, but Tracker programs may not. If that’s the case, it could result in excessive data being downloaded to the mobile device, which could cause long sync times, especially when changing users.

Has anyone encountered this issue or have suggestions on how to manage event downloads efficiently?

Unfortunately, as you mention, it is not currently possible to limit the amount of events in a TEI. We do have a ticket to review the case and provide a proper solution. You can follow-up the ticket here.
