Case study: scaling humanitarian logistics with DHIS2

Hi everyone! We are excited to share a new story about how DHIS2 is being used beyond traditional health indicators to manage large-scale global logistics.

The Project

We have been working with Samaritan’s Purse to support Operation Christmas Child, a massive humanitarian effort that has delivered over 220 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in over 170 countries since 1993.

Our Approach

To handle the complexity of this global distribution, EyeSeeTea developed a bespoke DHIS2 application. Our goal was to create a tool that:

  • Streamlines complex workflows : Managing data for millions of items across diverse international regions.
  • Ensures technical reliability : Providing a robust platform for headquarters while remaining accessible for field teams.
  • Focuses on real-world use : Moving beyond technology for its own sake to ensure toys, school supplies, and hygiene items reach their destination efficiently.

We would love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions about the technical implementation of this custom app!
