Capture App - Summary of updates since May 2025

Dear DHIS2 Community,

We are excited to share the latest updates to the Capture App, covering releases v102.2.0 to v103.2.0. This post highlights the key user experience improvements and new functionality added since May 2025.

All of these improvements are available in the latest version of the app, but we’ve also included the release number where each feature was introduced for your reference.

Capture App - Releases v102.2.0 to v103.2.0 summary:

Working lists display ownership org unit | Jira | v102.2.0

Previously, working lists showed the registration org unit. They now display the current ownership org unit of the tracked entity, making ownership information clearer for users.

Disable fallback search button if the tracked entity type has no searchable attributes | Jira | v102.4.0

If a tracked entity type has no searchable attributes, the fallback search button after searching in a program is now disabled (with a tooltip explaining why). This prevents confusion when searches would otherwise just return a generic error message.

Additional UX improvements to org unit selection | Jira1 | Jira2 | 102.3.0 & v102.6.0 |

  • When adding a new event in an event program, you can now select the org unit directly in the form (“Basic info” section).

  • In the event form, if no org unit has been chosen yet, the field in the context selector is now read-only and displays “None selected” with a helpful tooltip until you choose an org unit in the form.

Adjust form width to improve user experience for longer field names | Jira | 102.6.0

The team received user feedback that often the name of the field was too narrow and the field to enter data was too wide. As a first step the ratio of the two columns were adjusted to allow for longer names. Field labels are now given more space, making long names easier to read while keeping input fields usable.

Improved user experience when adding or attempting to edit events in expired periods | Jira1 | Jira2 | 102.6.5 & 103.2.0 |

If a user is trying to add an event within an expired period, this will now result in a message below the report date immediately (even before clicking save). In addition, if they are trying to edit an event within an expired period, the edit as well as the delete button will be disabled with a tooltip.

The Capture app is on continuous release, compatible with 2.40 and above. You can download the new release from DHIS2 App Hub or test it out on DHIS2 Play.
