Cannot load OrgUnits or DataSet in Data Entry

Version: 2.20
Build revision: 20001

We are suddenly having difficulty in using the Data Entry screen (it was working prior to yesterday, more than likely.)

The OrgUnit tree appears on the left hand side and the search functionality works there. But when selecting any OrgUnit in the tree it does not populate the Organisation Unit field in the snapshot below. Furthermore, the Loading bar next to Data Set continues to run but the Data Set list is never populated because no Org Unit ever gets loaded into the field.

The log does not show us anything obvious. Analytics ran automatically overnight without a problem.

We are looking at Datasets which changed over the past day… there are 12 which were updated, but I am not sure if there were true changes or if someone just edited them and clicked Save instead of Cancel, because there was no reason to modify datasets as far as I know.

3 of the 12 modified datasets are designed with a dimension type of Aggregate with a specific category combo of POS. But these are not new datasets and have been in existence and have functioned properly for many months. We’ve set up a test environment – modifying that aggregate dimension dataset did not resolve the issue of not being able to load an Org Unit and its available Datasets on the Data Entry screen.

Does anyone have an idea of what we should be looking for? Thanks.

could you please open the Chrome developer tools and look in the “Console” for errors in red?

Okay. Could you simply try to delete cache properly, close the browser, log in and try again?

Hi, I’ve seen this a couple of times before, and if memory serves me right it was caused by invalid indicator formulas in those instances.

I guess the thread you refer to is the one copied below.

Unfortunately, yours truly ends the thread with “I fixed it,but will detail the problem when I get back”…and I never say actually what the problem was and I cannot recall the exact fix. I am pretty sure in this case it was related to an option set which was assigned to a data element, but the option set had no members, which caused this error.

I recall another instance where an orgunit had a control character (new line) which caused the same error.

So, as Morten says, it is likely a bad piece of metadata somewhere which will need to be tracked down using JSONLint to determine exactly what is causing the error.

I see this post is old but I just faced the same problem “Cannot load OrgUnits or DataSet in Data Entry” and the solutions listed above did not work for me. So decided to drop what worked for me!
I was working on DHIS2 2.30 and had faced the problem! it took me days to have it all working.
It was silly but any ways, I did associate the user I am logged in(admin user) to an organization unit. Access the users from apps list and do edit(link org unit) the user information. That fixed the problem, at least in my case!
