I am working on a large PEPFAR project and we use DHIS2 to collect all of our aggregate data. At the moment we may be having some of our Disaggs for current data elements (DE) updating. Because of this we will need to add additional Categories to already existing category options, which will not impact historic data. So the issue I have is if we add new categories in, this is going to mess up all our our existing UIDs for our Category Option Combos (CoC). I know that one practice is overwriting a DE in a dataset with an updated CoC. Or we can just outright add the new category in. I need to find out what the best option for this is, and if anyone has experience with it.
