Analytics Relative periods for Week starting e.g. Sunday

Hi community,

We are implementing Week Starting Sunday in an eIDSR implementation and realising that there is no relative periods for Week (Sunday) values as all the Weekly relative periods are for normal weeks which starts on a Monday.

Especially for eIDSR where EPI Weeks starts on a Sunday it is very inconvenient not to have relative periods in analytics. I wonder if there is a feature request for this already, else I will create one and also wondering if the approach would be to create a system setting for weeks similar to FinYear or to create more analytics relative periods.

Since DHIS2 is extensively used for eIDSR I wonder how other users are dealing with this in dashboards as well without having to continually update favourites.

I would appreciate some discussion.

Hi @Elmarie_Claasen

There are a number of similar questions that I can remember in the CoP requesting an option to change the start of week for relative period. This is a feature request as well: Jira

Would using predictors be helpful for your use case? Please see @Jim_Grace’s explanation for using predictors and choosing the start of the day: Generate weekly data from daily data with predictors - #2 by Jim_Grace

Does this suggestion help? Thanks!

Hi @Gassim

Thanks for your response and suggestions. Though I do not think either of these are helpful for us. We are fine with the calendar picker and we are capturing data using Week (starting Sunday).

Our problem are more related to Analytic objects as we are unable to use Relative Period for Weeks as those are by default linked to Week (starting Monday). So my suggestion is that one could perhaps have a feature where this is selected under System Settings to define which of the Weekly period start dates should translate into Weekly Relative Periods.

Without relative periods for weeks it means that someone will need to change each favourite every week or month versus being able to select “Last Week” or “Last 4 weeks”.

Not sure if this makes sense. I have not found a similar Jira issue and happy to create it if this would in any way make sense to others as well.

Ah I see there is actually a Jira issue for it so have added my vote and following.
