Analysing data using cross-tabs

Good day. After exporting data from DHIS2 onto excel, I want to further analyse the data by creating cross-tabs between variables. I am however struggling to do so because all the data elements (questions) appear in one column. Is there a way for me to analyse the data using cross-tabs between two variables? Does the data need to be restructured? Please can you advise. Thank you!

Welcome to the community @Kajal! :tada:

Could you please share the steps that you are using? What app are you using? Could you share a screenshot as an example (without sensitive/private/personal info)?

It’s not clear how you structured your data. I’m assuming this is aggregate data which has been collected into data sets? I believe you might find the following documentation helpful:

For community members to help you, you will probably need to add more information please such as the use case as well as the metadata structure and most importantly an example of what your current outcome looks like compared to the expected outcome.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for responding! I am using the import/export app and trying to export as a CSV file. The data is in its raw form - each question appears in the same column e.g. column A and then the responses in the rest of the columns. The questions in Column A are repeated and seem to tally with the total number of responses. Any advise/assistance will really be appreciated.

In case you want to preview this information in a spreadsheet without repeating the questions, you might want to use a pivot table where you have only the COUNTAUNIQE questions and then ability to list all views. For instance, in Google Sheets select the two columns and then in the menu click on Insert → Pivot Table.

Is there a reason why you tend to use excel instead of analyzing the data on DHIS2? There are several tools that could be helpful depending on the type of data (aggregate or tracker).
